Rug Fringe Repair
In addition to repairing your rug’s fringe, we can offer tips to keep your fringe damage free at home:
- Don’t comb the fringe. Running your fingers through the fringe to straighten it out seems like a good idea, but in reality it will damage the fibers and weaken the integrity of the rug. Instead, wipe the fringes down and fold the carpet end over end to straighten out any tangles. And, of course, never ever try to vacuum your rug’s fringe – that can result in disastrous damage.
- Rotate the rug. Rotating or moving the rug will ensure the same fringe isn’t constantly caught in high-traffic areas. This will help the fringe stay cleaner and minimize damage. It will also help avoid worn spots due to foot traffic.
- Gently spot clean. Between professional cleanings, keep your fringe looking nice by gently spot cleaning with a damp sponge. Ask your rug cleaning professional which solutions are best for your rug’s fabric.
